Welcome Post

I've been working as a musician for a couple years now. In 2008. I entered the Faculty of Music at the University of Manitoba, to study jazz piano. In the years since then, I've gained enough skill-both on the piano and at self-management-to make enough money as a musician to support my present lifestyle. A lot of what I've learned has been learned through trial-and-error, though, and I've found myself on more than a few really rough gigs. This blog is being used to collect the best/worst of those.

I've found that most of the time a rough gig is the result of different expectations between the musician and the party hiring the musician, so at no point do I plan on condemning anyone but myself for a rough gig. This isn't the place to burn bridges or roast venues. The whole point is to lament the situations that one can sometimes find themselves in as a freelance musician, especially as one who is just coming up, and making more than a few mistakes along the way.
